Podiatry / Chiropody is a comprehensive foot health service. Chiropodists/Podiatrists inspect, detect and manage foot conditions and relieve pain caused by deformities and dysfunctions. Podiatry is the modern description of a chiropodist and specialize in the early diagnosis of many health problems. They also play a key role in preventing and treating those aspects which affect the foot and lowers limb and provide a fully comprehensive foot health service including:

  • Short-term treatment for immediate relief of painful symptoms
  • Long term management
  • Inspection of feet and the detection of foot conditions and foot-related orthopaedic problems
  • Treatment and alleviation of resultant foot problems

The Therapists:

Paula Maple graduated from the Chelsea School of Podiatric Medicine/University of Westminster in 1969 and is a state-registered chiropodist and podiatrist. Paula is a member of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists and is in continual professional development, enabling her to assess and treat or refer all types of Podiatry / Chiropody foot conditions. Rowena Sands graduated with an honours degree in Podiatry from the London Foot Hospital. Rowena has held senior positions in Primary Care Trusts around London. She assesses and treats the full range of foot conditions and has recently gained a certificate in Podiatric acupuncture. Health Profession Council No: CH15863

Paul O'Malley qualified in 1998 from Westminster University. He spent four years working in the NHS in the routine clinics and as part of the specialist diabetic team and biomechanics team he also worked in the orthotics labs producing custom orthoses and simple insoles. He now work purely in private practices in a Biomechanics clinic in Hampton Hill and alongside a podiatric surgeon in Hounslow. He previously gained a postgraduate certificate in sports podiatry at the MMU in 2001. Currently he is undergoing his MSc in clinical podiatric biomechanics.
