Massage eases pain and aching muscles, and aims to balance body and mind. In reflexology, the therapist activates reflex points in the feet to heal the whole body. Both therapies aim to balance the body and mind.

 

The following forms of massage are practised at this clinic:

Aromatherapy 

Pure plant essential oils are applied with massage to balance the body, mind and emotions, leaving you smelling and feeling great!

 

Holistic
Massage

 

Healing massage that brings deep relaxation to relieve stress & exhaustion.

 

Indian Head Massage

 

An invigorating, yet relaxing head massage that boosts energy levels and relieves stress, ideal for tension headaches and insomnia.

Deep Tissue Massage

 

A slow deep pressure massage to release deep seated tension, relieve aching muscles and improve blood circulation

Therapeutic Massage

 

A slow gentle massage that is restorative, soothing and relaxing, it is perfect for anxiety reduction (it has been shown that relaxation and anxiety cannot co-exist!)

Sports
Massage

 

Various techniques of massage on overstrained muscles that restores function & speeds recovery.

 

Pregnancy Massage

A light gentle massage to relieve tension, muscular aches and pains that client experiences during pregnancy. Only performed from 4th month of pregnancy


Reflexology

A balancing treatment based on the theory that the body is mirrored in the feet in ten zones. In stimulating reflex points, corresponding to organs and glands, a state of deep relaxation can be reached which stimulates the body's healing process

Thai Massage

Using a combination of massage techniques, acupressure and assisted stretching, this unique treatment works on a system of energy pathways to boost vitality, improve flexibility, relieve muscular tension and stiffness, enhance circulation and restore equilibrium. Recommended for either relaxation or to complement an exercise programme.


The Team:

Cath Barnes trained in Traditional Thai Massage at the Old Medical Hospital in Chiang Mai, Thailand. She has been practising yoga since 1988 and incorporates yoga based postures in the Thai massage treatment. She holds ITEC (International Therapy Examination Council) Diplomas in Anatomy, Physiology and Massage, Reflexology and On-site/Stress Management. Her post-graduate training includes Deep Tissue Massage, Massage in Pregnancy and Indian Head Massage. She has Reiki training to the level of Master and is a full member of Embody

Petrus De Jager Qualified in 2001 in South Africa, in Sports Science and Sports Massage. He is also an NSCA-Certified Personal trainer. His interest and participation in a diversity of sports has developed an excellent knowledge and sense of the body's need for recovery, strengthening and relaxation through specific treatment

Susannah King (ITEC, MAR) holds a diploma in Anatomy, Physiology and Massage and Reflexology, with a post graduate course in Deep Tissue techniques, Reflexology in Pregnancy and is currently training for a diploma in Sports Massage. She works holisticly and believes in promoting health and wellbeing within everybody. Qualified in Pregnancy Massage but will not massage in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.

Maisie Hill holds ITEC qualifications in anatomy and physiology, holistic massage and aromatherapy and is currently training in reflexology. She has a passionate and positive approach to life and this is reflected in her treatments. Maisie has an keen interest in pregnancy massage and also supports women during childbirth and the postnatal period by working as a doula. Will not massage in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.

 

 

Oriental Medicine

Oriental Medicine is an ancient holistic system based on centuries of observing and improving the way the mind and body work together. Oriental Medicine uses a range of therapies to maintain good health and treat all forms of illness, pain & emotional imbalances.

The following forms of therapy are used:

 

Acupuncture Fine needles are used along traditional channels to stimulate the body's natural healing process, and to relieve pain and stress

Herbs

 

Strong and effective, each prescription is made up individually to work on your specific symptoms


Therapists may also use cupping, skin work (kenbiki), moxibustion (heat treatment), reiki, seitai (neuro-muscular technique),
sotai (muscle balancing) and tuina (massage). They will all give advice on diet, breathing, posture & stress management

The Therapist:

Sinsook Park (Bsc Hons Dip Ac.Dip OHM) studied Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine at the University of Westminster and graduated with an honours degree. She has also received a Post Graduate Diploma in Chinese Herbal Medicine. She has done further clinical study for Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine in Korea and China.

Sinsook helps musculo-skeletal, women's, dermatological, digestive conditions and many other conditions with a great deal of success through her extensive experience and research. She is also currently working at a GP surgery as a member of the NHS team.

Sinsook was in charge of Herbal Pharmacy and teaching Chinese Herbal Pharmacognosy in the London College of Traditional Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine.
